Toyota Free State Cheetahs
The Toyota Free State Cheetahs are one of the first South African sides to participate in the Pro14 competition in Europe and the Bloemfontein side’s experience in Europe could prove to be vital in their quest for Currie Cup title number four. The Toyota Free State Cheetahs, considered one the smaller unions in South Africa, always punch above their weight and in Europe it was no different as they managed to secure a play-off spot in their debut Pro14 season.
The iCollege Pumas, the side from Nelspruit, have always been well supported throughout the Mpumalanga Province. They have won the Currie Cup first division on two occasions 2005 and 2009, which ensured them Currie Cup Premier Division status in 2006 and 2010. The iCollege Pumas, despite being one of the younger unions, had the resilience to produce a shock 22-21 win over the Vodacom Blue Bulls at the Mbombela Stadium in 2010.
